Why davidseurope?

My dad David Sanders wrote a book.

He never had it published.

He died in March 2013.

The book’s main concept was to concentrate on the historic regions that have shaped European History from approximately the fall of the Roman Empire to the present day.

He documents counties, fiefdoms, sheriffdoms, City States, Empires et al but the book was called simply ‘Provinces and Principalities’.

I thought you might like to see it, so I am publishing it as a blog.

He last worked on the manuscript in the late ‘noughties’ so please bear that in mind when reviewing the very latest facts (all feedback is welcomed however and all constructive comments will be added below a post)

I will be publishing it alphabetically. So this History of Europe’s regions will unfold via that idiosyncratic route!

One year later I have reached ‘Ch###’ (this could last some time)

His son Mike Sanders 2nd April 2013. (latest update 11th March 2014)
