Unitary authority, with the status of a borough, in north Wales.

It was created in 1996 by uniting the Aberconwy district in eastern Gwynedd (the lower valley of the Conwy and the coastlands either side of its estuary, including Llandudno) and much of the Colwyn district in northwestern Clwyd.

It is a land of holiday resorts, including the inland one of Bettws-y-Coed, in the valley of the Conwy.
