Welsh Marcher lordship lying between Shrewsbury and Montgomery.   Founded by the Corbett family in the reign of the Conqueror, it was later held by the Staffords, who became Dukes of Buckingham, until treason brought Caus into the King’s hands.   In 1536 it became part of Shropshire.
