English: Rock of Cashel One of the most spectacular sights in Ireland, the Rock of Cashel is a steep limestone outcrop surmounted by the ruins of the ancient capital of the Kings of Munster. (Photo credit: Wikipedia)

The Kings of Munster, the province in southwest Ireland, were sometimes called Kings of Cashel.   The town is east of Tipperary and southeast of Limerick.

In 1141 it became the seat of an Archbishop, whose province was Munster.   In the Church of Ireland the province of Cashel was merged with Dublin in 1838, whereas the Roman Catholic Church still has an Archbishop and Province of Cashel.
