Province in united Italy, the north of the old province of Terra di Lavoro in the southern Kingdom (the Two Sicilies), named from its capital, which is north of Naples.

In 1927 the province was abolished and divided between those of Frosinone and Napoli, but the south again formed a province after the Second World War, and belongs to the Campania region.  The northern lands of the old province are now divided between the provinces of Frosinone and Latina and belong to the Lazio region.
