Small lordship in the Po plain in northern Italy, lying between Modena and Mantua (the town is north of Modena).

It was held by the Pio family, 1319-20 and again from 1327 until it was confiscated by the Emperor Charles V in 1525 and sold to the Este Dukes of Ferrara and Modena.
