Town in Piedmont in northwest Italy, south of Turin.

The title of Prince of Carignano was held by a branch of the House of Savoy founded by Thomas Francis (d.1656), a younger son of Duke Charles Emmanuel I.   In 1831 Charles Albert, the Prince of Carignano, succeeded his kinsman as King of Sardinia.
