County in the Holy Roman Empire, named from a town in Bavaria on the left bank of the Danube, between Regensburg and Passau, and a little below Straubing.   The town is now in the Landkreis of Straubing-Bogen in the Land of Bayern.

It became a quite substantial county in the region north of the Danube in the 12th and 13th centuries.   Its Counts were perhaps a branch of the Babenberg rulers of Austria.  When the last Count died in 1242, Bogen passed to his half-brother, Otto II, Duke of Bavaria.
