Territory subservient to Nazi Germany, 1939-45.

In the autumn of 1938 Czechoslovakia lost lands to Germany, Hungary and Poland, and became a loose federation, from which Slovakia seceded on 14th March 1939.

President Hacha of the defunct Czecho-Slovakia went to Berlin.   After negotiations well into the night of 14/15 May, and under the threat of the bombing of Prague, he “invited” German protection for the rump of his country.  There remained a Czech government in the Protectorate but the real power lay with the Reichsprotektor or his deputy.

The Czech lands were not liberated until 1945.
