ÁRVA   Magyar name of the northernmost county in the Kingdom of Hungary before 1918.  Orawa (Pol); Orava (Czech); Oravsko (Slovak).

By a decision of the Conference of Ambassadors it was divided between Poland and Czechoslovakia (the larger part) in 1920.   It was named after a river, a tributary of the Vah, the main river of western Slovakia.
