District in the western Highlands of Scotland, bounded by Lochs Shiel (to the west), Eil (north), and Linnhe (east), and by the district of Morven (south).  It belonged to the territory of the Macleans, and was part of Argyllshire until 1975, when it transferred to the Lochaber district (since abolished) in the Highland Region.
